Cinelli Colombini - TUSCANY

Donatella Cinelli Colombini was born in 1953 into a family of producers of Brunello di Montalcino, Donatella graduated in History of Medieval Art. In 1993 she founded the “Wine tourism movement” and invented Wine Day, the event that in a very short time brought success to Italian wine tourism. In 1998, after 14 years in the family estate, she created her own, made up of Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda – with a country inn and the production of the Chianti wine – and Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino. This is where the Brunello is made, in a winery among the first in Italy to be staffed only by women. In 2003 Donatella won the “Oscar” for Best Italian wine producer, a prize awarded by the Italian Association of Sommelier-Bibenda, and she published the Manuale del turismo del vino (a handbook for producers on how to organize, and successfully open their wineries to the public). Donatella Cinelli Colombini is the Tuscan representative of the Donne del Vino (Women in Wine). Her all female wineries dedicate a wine to a man: the enologist Carlo Ferrini, who, from the outside, guides the production of the wines. He is the dragon that one can see in the label, while the doves who surround him are the 7 women who work in the winery and sell the wine. The “Drago e le 7 Colombe” is a powerful and trendy wine destined for young wine lovers who are beginning to buy great wines to drink at home. A special modern packaging has been created for this wine saying goodbye to the traditional old corkscrew. A twister, inserted in the cork, connected to the capsule helps to pull out the cork without the use of other utensils. The other novelty of this wine is the price, which is decidedly affordable. The Drago will be sold in shops and supermarkets which have a corner for great wines. To help carry the wine home, and to give it as a present, each bottle is sold in a transparent plastic shopper. So, Drago e le 7 Colombe is for young people looking for quality in life and novelties, it is for those who have friends worldwide and spend the evenings with them, at home, drinking Italian wines which can compete with the best wines from all over the world.
